Governance

HI benefits from a de-centralized and efficient staff, based in The Gambia. The staff are mostly part-time employees and volunteers who are supported by a network of advisors, consultants and assistants in The Gambia, Canada, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Sudan, and the USA. Together they help in the successful implementation and monitoring of our projects.

They are:

Molifa Sanneh

Mr Molifa Sanneh is Principal Adviser of HI. He also serves as the Secretary General of the Insurance Association of The Gambia, Banjul. Before that he was a Manager of The Gambia National Insurance Company (GNIC), with responsibility for overseeing GNIC's branches in Kanifing Municipality. He has three diplomas: Diploma in Insurance from the West African Insurance Institute (Banjul, The Gambia); Diploma in Modern Management & Administration from Cambridge Tutorial College; and a Diploma in Insurance Marketing and Management from St. Stephens Institute of Technology. He has 31 years' experience working in the insurance industry.

Mariama Sumaila

Mrs Mariama Sumaila is Financial Controller of HI. He is also Administrative Officer at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Banjul. Mrs Daffeh has a Bachelor's degree in banking and finance from the Islamic University College in Accra, Ghana.

Lamin Sanneh

Mr Lamin Sanneh is Human Resources and Logistics Manager of HI. He has a bachelor's degree in human resources from the Islamic University College in Accra, Ghana. He was HI's representative in Ghana from its establishment in 2011 until December 2017.

Nyimma Sanneh

Ms Nyimma Sanneh is Public Relations Assistant of HI. She also works as Compliance Officer of Supersonicz Micro Finance in Kanifing, The Gambia. She has a Bachelor's degree in banking and finance from the Islamic University College in Accra, Ghana.

Dr Babanding Daffeh

Dr Babanding Daffeh is HI's Medical Consultant. Dr Daffeh studied at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Moscow, formally called Patrice Lumumba University from 2001 to 2009, where he obtained a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. From 2009 to the present he works at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul, as a resident medical officer at the department of surgery. He also works on part-time basis at Bafrow Medical Clinic in Serre Kunda as a clinician from 2011 to the present. From 2011-2014, Dr Daffeh ran the weekly village clinics of HI in Sintet village, serving 80-100 patients a week from The Gambia and Senegal.
